It is truly amazing when something that has been manufactured to kill can be transformed into a product that saves lives.

This is the essence of the Golden West Humanitarian Foundation Explosive Harvesting System (EHS).

In most countries effected by explosive remnants of war, the need to buy commercial explosives for humanitarian operations can be cripplingly expensive

(seriously limiting the work that can be accomplished with limited dollars).  Additionally, the environmental costs of producing new explosive and worldwide shipping are startling.

What if you could use something that was readily available and that needed to be destroyed anyway?

At our flagship research and development facility in Cambodia, in partnership with the Cambodian Mine Action Center (CMAC), Golden West HF has put the EHS technology to work in what is now known as the highly acclaimed Cambodian Explosive Harvesting Program

Using stockpiles of explosive ordnance that are already slated for destruction, the EHP extracts the available explosives and re-manufactures them into a stable, safe and effective tool used to destroy landlines and other unexploded ordnance.

Since its inception, the Cambodian Explosive Harvesting Program has grown and now provides the bulk of all explosive charges used for Humanitarian Mine-Action in the Kingdom of Cambodia. Producing an average of over 5,000 individual multi-purpose charges and numerous specialized charges each month, this program has been lauded as an example of sustainability and innovation.

To meet the needs of demining and EOD teams in remote locations, a "Fly-away" mobile EHS has also been designed.
